July and August are the busiest months on the island of Kefalonia, the heat is often too intense for rigorous activities, and total seclusion becomes impossible. I would suggest that if you are able to visit us in the low season you could take advantage of lower costs and a more peaceful holiday! In some cases the accommodation – can be up to half it’s normal price! Services are often better too and you may not need to book in advance. Flights are more affordable during the low season, and this year Kefalonia is a destination from even more cities and airports than before!
If you enjoy walking or hiking there’s no better time to visit Kefalonia than in the cooler, but temperate months. From April to June, before the onset of the hottest sunshine, the island blooms with wild flowers and herbs, trees become alive with blossom and wildlife abounds. Again, after the hottest months have passed, from September to November the island’s nature comes alive and provides excellent colours and opportunities for walking and hiking. Temperatures are ideal for walking during these weeks and it is also quieter, giving a real sense of island life before and after the bustle and heat of the busiest months have passed.
Following are some of the trails we have visited (many more will be uploaded soon):
