The moment I had been waiting for finally arrived—my first swim of the season in Kefalonia! On March 11, under a bright and warm sun, I couldn’t resist the call of the sea any longer. The beach was peaceful, with a few families enjoying the fresh air and some older locals, many of whom are dedicated winter swimmers, taking their regular dip.
To my delight, the water was not as cold as expected. This past winter was milder than usual, so the sea had retained a bit of warmth, making the transition into the water surprisingly pleasant. It was refreshing, invigorating, and a perfect reminder of why I love this island so much.
As I floated in the calm, crystal-clear waters, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the beauty and serenity that Kefalonia offers year-round. With the arrival of spring, the island is slowly awakening, and we are looking forward to welcoming our summer visitors!
