Day 1: Northern Kefalonia – Postcard Views & Peaceful Swims
Assos Village – A tiny fairytale-like peninsula village, perfect for a relaxed walk and a short hike up to the Venetian castle for sweeping views.
Myrtos Beach – Kefalonia’s most famous beach. Even if you don’t swim, it’s worth the stop for the dramatic scenery.
Not swimming? Head to:
Emblissi Beach – A clear-water cove with rocky platforms ideal for sunbathing.
Alaties Beach – A small bay with salt pools and a chill taverna.
Fiskardo – Explore this elegant, unspoiled harbor village. Wander its Venetian alleyways and have a drink by the water as yachts gently sway in the background. Nice tavernas to stop in the villages of Vassilikades.
Day 2: Nature, Culture & Island Flavor
Antisamos Beach – Famous from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Green mountains, turquoise waters, and a lively beach scene with watersports available.
Sami Town – Visit the new Archaeological Collection of Sami, walk the charming harborfront, and relax in one of the town’s cafés or restaurants.
Explore the little hidden beaches between Sami and Agia Efimia for a peaceful dip with barely anyone around.
Mount Ainos National Park – Drive or hike up to Kefalonia’s highest peak for epic views and a walk among the island’s rare black fir trees.
St. Gerasimos Monastery – A spiritual and historical landmark surrounded by vineyards.
Orealios Gaea Robola Cooperative, located 2min from St Gerassimos – Discover Kefalonia’s native wine with a tasting experience and shop.
Day 3: Southern Beaches & Capital Charm
Makris Gialos Beach – Great in low season, with organized facilities and beautiful water.
In high season, opt for:
Ai Helis – A wide sandy beach with shallow water.
Avithos – A peaceful beach with a great taverna and scenic views.
Argostoli (Evening Visit) – Stroll across the De Bosset Bridge, explore the paved alleys around Valianos Square, and enjoy dinner in the lively capital.
Alternative Day 3: Paliki Peninsula Adventure
Want to see more? Hop on the ferry from Argostoli to Lixouri for a completely different vibe.
Choose from:
Xi Beach – With its soft red sand and clay cliffs.
Lepeda or Vatsa – More traditional and low-key beaches with tavernas on the beach.
Or:
Petani Beach – Often called the Myrtos of the West, with equally dramatic views and deep blue waters.
Haritatos Winery – A peaceful estate offering tastings of local varieties in a beautiful garden setting is on the way.
Drive back through Livadi marshlands and above the Agia Kyriaki/Zola gulf for stunning views and a different perspective of the island.
