1st – May Day/ Labor Day – Festival of the Flowers
A national holiday in celebration of workers also coincides with the start of spring. Many flower festivals and flower shows take place as well as dancing and feasting.

1st – Classic Car Club of Kefalonia

1st – Traditional Dances and Celebration Katelios Beach, Katelios 15:00 

4th – Svoronos Cross Country Race, Svoranata
The race will be divided into three categories of routes.
Category and route for children up to 14 years old.
Category and route for walkers who want to cross the points of interest 3.4 km.
And the 7,5 km race distance.

5th – Lady O Clean Up Cruise setting sail from Argostoli
At last years CLEAN UP CRUISE with Kefalonia Cruise Lady O volunteers collected 40 refuse bags of rubbish from Vardiani Island!  So if anyone is on the island at that time and wants to join (you will be rewarded with a beach BBQ and wine!) email kefaloniacruise@gmail.com

8th – Beach Stones, poetry readings – Detta Darnell  at Poros To Korali 18:00-19:00
Book tour and poetry readings. Detta will be reading poems from her book “Beach Stones” and talking about her life on Kefalonia. Open to all, free entrance. 

11th – Mounda Beach Clean Up! 10:00-12:00
Volunteer. In association with the “Offer” program – a joint effort between AB Vassilopoulos and Procter & Gamble for cleaner Greek seas and coasts. Visit https://www.ab.gr/P&G-prosfero to find out more information and participate in voluntary actions.

11th –  Vergotia Atheltic Meeting 2019 at Andreas Vergotis Stadium, Argostoli, 18:00

11th – Stone Painting – Poros, 10:00-13:00

A lovely morning for one to six people at my creative little cottage near the sea. No experience or artistic ability needed – this is about unleashing gently, your inner creative soul and enjoy playing along the way. Lunch is included. We will end with a relaxing guided mediation afterwards to send your on your way happy and inspired. Check link for more information

Part of International Museum Day

21st – Celebrations for the Union of the Ionian Islands  & Sts. Constantine and Eleni – Karvados & Argostoli
A big festival of great historical significance, taking place in Argostoli to commemorate this important date, when the Ionian islands were officially unified in 1864. Sts. Constantine and Eleni are celebrated on May 21st in Karavados. The Metropolitan officiates at Vespers the previous evening. On May 21st he officiates at the Metropolis Cathedral in Argostoli as the celebration coincides with the anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece, resulting in a multitude of official events and functions to be attended.

21st – Wildlife Sense Turtle Audit – Argostoli
“If you are are on the island and would like to learn more about the sea turtles of Kefalonia then get yourself down to Argostoli harbour tomorrow (21st May). The Wildlife Sense team will be conducting health exams on the adult turtles in the harbour. It begins at 9:00am and we’ll be happy to answer your turtle questions!”
