Villa Alexia is a 4 bedroomed & 3 bathroom property at the heart of the bustling harbour of Agia Efimia, reputed to be the oldest house still in use on Kefalonia and, although we do not have the exact date of construction, the house is first mentioned in a Venetian plan of the port dated 1756 then called Porto Santa Efimia.
The house was owned by Count Deladetsima who fell on hard times and the house was auctioned in 1874 when the family of the current owners purchased it.
The house is fully modernised with air conditioning, airy spacious bedrooms, tiled modern bathrooms, balconies overlooking the harbour and a private terrace at the rear, the living area has generous proportions with plenty of comfortable sofas and a large kitchen diner.
Maintaining an imposing exterior of quaint Eptanisian architecture, the high-ceiling, minimalistic interior constitutes a welcome surprise. The distinctive details – like contemporary art work, elegant furniture, authentic vintage Greek and Japanese pieces make for a fascinating, well-balanced combination of styles, colors and textures – harmoniously complementing the sensational sea and harbor views from all of the front and side windows of the house.
Ideally situated with restaurants, bars, and beaches all within a short stroll Villa Alexia is one of the very best accommodations available in the central east of the island. The property is a true oasis of calm and privacy in all its aspects. The external walls of the property are topped by a discreet fence ensuring your privacy from street-level look. Enjoy your meal at the peacefully sheltered patio, surrounded by fresh flowers and overlooking the endless horizon spanning from the port of Sami and Odysseus’s Ithaca, to the endless Ionian blue.
Located just 8km of the famous Myrtos Beach, Sami village, close to Melissani Lake, Drogarati Cave and the romantic village of Assos. Within walking distance you can find beautiful beaches, many traditional tavernas, shops, markets, coffee shops and bars as well as a post office, a pharmacy, boat and bike rental, and ATMs.
