Volunteering for environment
The Nautical and Environmental Museum in Fiscardo is the result of various collaborative projects aimed at the preservation of the island’s natural inheritance, as well as the promotion of environmental awareness in the general public. Since its inception, the museum remains vital thanks to the continued cooperation of local authorities and devoted volunteers.
You will be able to admire the skeletons of various marine mammals, turtles, seals and the whole skeleton of a whale that was washed up dead on the beach Emblissi in 1995. A recording of the marine fauna of Kefalonia and a photo gallery with the history of the area during the centuries will complete your tour.
The museum is housed in the old school of Fiscardo and was inaugurated in 1999. It has many activities and often takes part in voluntary actions, cleanings and other efforts. The museum has also created a radio station that broadcasts regionally and informs people on environmental issues.
The entrance is free.
