Choice for accommodation:
choose from our accommodation menu, according to your budget.
1st day, Get familiarized with your area visiting some of the best sightseeings on the island. After a generous breakfast with local products and a morning swim at the villa, if you have a pool, around 11.30 you can head off to Melissani Lake. You have two options there either visit it the mainstream way, take the tour with the little boat or arrange for a unique caving experience with the experts. There are more caves to discover in the area. At the end of the tour you can either stop for horse riding (ask if you want to choose the swimming tour!) or donkey trekking or drive direct to Antisamos beach, where you can relax on the free sunbeds and enjoy a snack, get a massage or a drink by the sea. At the center of the beach, there is a variety of watersport activities to choose from, like Jet Ski, Wakeboard / Kneeboard, Water Ski, Tubes / Sliders, Banana Boat, Crazy Sofa, S.U.P, Windsurfing, Snorkeling, Canoe, Pedal Boat or just go for a mini cruise in the nearby beaches. Check for the Ancient Sami trail, if you like walking, offers great views. You can finish your day with a nice dinner at Familia restaurant in Sami or have us organised a special menu from the chef at your accommodation.
2nd day, if you wake up early, I would suggest a quick swim at Myrtos beach (you will be surprised as it is the only time of day that you can enjoy this beauty on your own – it is the best time as well as the sea is usually calm in the mornings). Here you can try paragliding, one of the best experiences offering amazing views of one of the best beaches of the world! Then you can head to Agia Efimia little harbor for a snack. I propose you drive to Assos village, one of the two preserved villages from the earthquake of 1953. There depending on the temperature and the time you can swim, have lunch, walk around to admire traditional architecture or a snack and climb up to the venetian Assos castle and explore it (this is one of my favourite walks!). It is a unique experience and you can get amazing views of both the village as well as a breathtaking sunset.
3d day If you wake up early you can visit Karavomilos Lake and walk by the seaside walk path to the village of Sami (just 1km) to get your breakfast. Or you can rent a bike and ride to Agia Efimia if you are moderate cycler, or explore Sami and Pylaros areas if you are an advanced cycler. If you prefer the sea, you can rent a boat for the day, from Agia Efimia, I suggest you stop in the isolated beaches on the way to the north, have a swim and explore the area, Agia Sofia and Horgota beaches. You can instead have a diving course here or arrange to take one of the tours of sea kayaking or canoeing. You can end up at Sea Rock ws or Dendrinos restaurant, for a mediterranean meal, overlooking the sea and get a drink at Carena bar. If you have time left before the sunset you can drive or climb up (through the signed footpath) to the monastery of Themata to admire the view of Agia Efimia bay or take any of the other signed paths in the area .
4th Day This is the day to explore Paliki peninsula, a completely different landscape from the rest of the island. Visit Xi beach with great red sand and impressive grey clay rocky background (the beach has a selection of beach bars, some with watersports service). Here you can have a natural spa, as the grey clay, according to the ancient and modern scientists, has medicinal properties that can cure skin disorders, heal wounds, it is also used for detoxification and many other disorders and injuries. Driving around the peninsula you can stop for a swim and lunch at Vatsa or head off to the northern part to Petanoi beach (and with your bathing suit get a simple lunch at Erasmias beach taverna and drink a cold beer enjoying one of the best sunset spots in the island!). If you feel adventurous and need more exploration stop instead at Kipouria Monastery for amazing sunset and get a glimpse of Platia Ammos (my favorite beach) or arrange to climb down with the help of the experts, as it is accessible only by boat at the moment!
5th day Fiscardo, the cosmopolitan, picturesque village with a wide selection of restaurants and services, (fish spa, diving, massage or reiki and shopping). If you like walking there are many signed foot paths to choose from, an easy, still beautiful choice is to walk to the lighthouse you see on the opposite side of the bay. There are many beautiful beaches nearby to choose from like Foki beach, Emblisi beach, Dafnoudi beach (if you want to walk for approx 1km in a dreamy shaded path). If you haven’t rented a boat yet you can do it here, getting the chance to explore the northern part of the island. You can end up at Alaties beach late afternoon for a quick swim and a drink at Acqua Alaties bar-restaurant with unique sunset views.
6th day, I suggest you spend this day around the area of the capital Argostoli, take the road from Sami not from Divarata. If you want to visit the religious center of Kefalonia, stop at the monastery of Saint Gerassimos. You can then visit one of the wineries nearby (check our wine tours menu) for tasting and purchase. If you want to climb to the highest mountain of the Ionian islands, drive up or walk up to mount Ainos, protected natural park, covered with Abies cephalonica trees, or choose a jeep safari to explore it (if you are lucky you can see the wild horses). The nature there and panoramic views are breathtaking! Another option would be to drive to Saint George Castle and get a drink at Kastro Cafe or lunch at Il Borgo restaurant. Once you arrive at Argostoli (select sights from my tour of Argostoli), visit Katavothres (one of the strange phenomena), swim at Platis Gialos (variety of watersports available) and dine at Casa Grec (special choice), Tzivras restaurant (traditional simple choice).
7th day you can choose either Skala village and beach, visit the Roman villa and old Skala and try a variety of watersports like jet ski or get a speed boat at Dolphin Ski Club, or try Captain Vangeli’s Special Tour.
If you are dreaming of a thrilling adventure you can try trying abseiling/zip lining!
